S. Koreans aged over 60 find more jobs in 2019, while 30s and 40s struggle


South Koreans in their 30s and 40s have
struggled to get jobs this year as employment figures fell by the tens of
thousands according to statistics Korea the total number of people who found
work between January and November this year grew a 281 thousand compared to the
same period in 2018 however the growth largely pertains to the older generation
as government budget has supported job creation for those aged over 60 the
figure grew by three hundred and sixty-seven thousand from last year
meanwhile new jobs for people in their 30s and 40s far by 58 thousand and a
hundred and sixty-five thousand respectively the downward trend comes
amid the country struggle with a chronically low birth rates and a rapid
decline in the working age population
